✨ A Little Time in Tbilisi
My Tips For Before or After Your Ski Holiday
Many of you travelling with Adventure Georgia this winter have added a night or two in Tbilisi – and honestly, I think it’s a wonderful idea.Whether it’s before you head up to the snow in Bakuriani, or a relaxing stop on your way home, Tbilisi is the perfect addition to your trip. It’s easy to explore, full of character, and has so many little cafés, museums, and walking routes that make your stay feel warm and memorable.
If you’re wondering what to do in Tbilisi, here are my own favourites, plus a simple way to spend one or two days in the city.

☕ My Personal Favourites in Tbilisi
These are the places I genuinely enjoy and always end up recommending. They’re easy to get to, easy to love, and they make your time in the city feel special.
Kvarts Coffee:
I have to start here because it always makes people smile. Kvarts Coffee is a tiny, cozy spot where the barista literally draws your face on your coffee cup or on a bottle of wine. It’s fun, quick, and such a cute way to take a break along Rustaveli Avenue. Location

Orbeliani Bazaar:
This indoor food hall is one of my go-to places in Tbilisi. It’s warm, modern, full of different food stalls, and perfect if you want to try something new without committing to a full sit-down meal.Location

Chimney Cakes & Bubble Waffles:
If there’s one smell that reminds me of being in Tbilisi’s city centre, it’s chimney cakes. They’re soft, warm, sweet and rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Sometimes they’re filled with ice cream or fruit, but I honestly love them just plain.

Nearby you’ll also find bubble waffles with all kinds of fillings. Both are perfect for a winter walk.

Narikala Fortress at Sunset:
If you only do one viewpoint, do this one. The cable car ride from Rike Park is easy, but the real magic is at the top when the sun starts to set and the lights of Tbilisi switch on. It’s peaceful, beautiful and one of my favourite moments in the city. 🔗 Cable Car Station: Location
Tbilisi Art Museum:
This is a calm, bright space and perfect for a quiet morning or afternoon. If you enjoy art and history or you just want to escape the cold for a bit, it’s lovely. Location

Georgian Art Palace:
This one is a gem. It’s full of theatre, film and cultural history and the building itself is beautiful. After visiting, I like walking down Marjanishvili Street, which has its own charm. There’s a little shop that sells pishka (warm Georgian donuts) that are honestly too good to skip.

Tbilisi Wine Museum & Maidan Bazaar:
These two are great if you want something to do before dinner. The Wine Museum is lovely and modern, and Maidan Bazaar is perfect for souvenirs, spices, sweets, and gifts to take home.

Sulphur Baths:
You can’t visit Tbilisi and not consider a sulphur bath. The Old Town baths are close and very traditional. One I enjoy in that area is Chreli Abano.
If you prefer something modern, the Lisi Lake baths are absolutely beautiful, but further away.

🌿 A Simple 1–2 Day Plan in Tbilisi
This plan works in any season and is easy to explore on foot.
Day 1
Check in and head into the Old Town. Start with Maidan Bazaar and then stop at the Wine Museum.
From there, walk through the narrow streets until you reach the Glass Bridge. Cross the bridge, wander through Rike Park and then take the cable car up to Narikala Fortress. If the timing works, try to reach the top around sunset. The transition from daylight to city lights is honestly magical.
Afterward, enjoy dinner at a Georgian restaurant nearby. There are many options to choose from…something that suits your vibe.
Day 2
Start the morning with a sulphur bath. It’s the perfect way to relax before a travel day or a snow day.
From there, walk toward Freedom Square and grab a chimney cake or bubble waffle. Continue along Rustaveli Avenue, stop at Kvarts Coffee for your personalised cup, and visit the Art Museum.
If you’d like to explore a different area, head to the Art Palace and enjoy a walk through Marjanishvili with a warm pishka for the stroll.

🎄 For Those Visiting During the Festive Season
If you are lucky enough to be in Tbilisi over December or early January, the city feels extra special.
The following Christmas/New Year dates have been confirmed:
* December 12, 2025: The lighting of the Tbilisi Christmas Tree & street light displays
* December 12, 2025-January 14, 2026: Tbilisi City Hall Christmas Village & markets on Orbeliani Square
* December 20-22, 2025: Fabrika Christmas Fair
The Christmas Tree will be located on First Republic Square (near Rustaveli Metro Station).
The Christmas Village at Orbeliani Square is one of my favourites. It has great chrismas light and decor displays, food stalls, warm drinks, music, crafts, ice skating, carnival activities for kids and that cosy holiday feeling. It’s such a lovely place to spend an evening.
